What’s My Story?

Like so many searching for their identity, my spiritual journey has been complicated, meandering in and out of the faith of my birth. Raised by a devout Catholic mother and a once-agnostic father, I was steeped in the traditions of the Church through my education in Catholic schools. During my university days, I felt the pull to explore other world religions. While it cultivated in me a deep appreciation for other expressions of faith, the meandering drew me away from Christianity.

It wasn’t until the age of thirty-five, propelled by a crisis of somewhat epic proportions, that I returned to Christianity. This proved to be a turning point in my life. Gratefully, I felt a nudge from the Holy Spirit to return to the roots of my faith.

Over the ensuing decades, I sampled various expressions of the Protestant faith, including Pentecostalism, Reformed, Southern Baptist, and non-denominational. Each of these experiences contributed to my spiritual growth, understanding and love of Jesus and His Church. I am still a work in progress until I meet God face-to-face. On this side of eternity, God graces us with opportunities to grow increasingly in love with Him, for the sake of the world He loves. Throughout this journey of deconstructing and reconstructing my relationship with my cultural heritage, faith, religion, and God, one thing has remained true: He is infinitely patient, gracious, abounding in love, faithful, and so much more. He has held my hand through the meandering paths, drawing me ever closer to Him.
